Making first contact
What happens at first contact?
You can either contact me by phone or email, however I find it useful to spend a few minutes on the phone to find out who you are and what you would like to discuss. It is also important that I am right for you also, as I know that this can be a daunting task. We can then arrange a date and time that suits.
What happens at our first meeting?
The initial assessment is slightly different from other counselling sessions in that it is a good opportunity for me to find out who you are and what you would like from the work. It is also important to discuss what you can expect from me. However, it is also essential that you feel heard in this first session so I will encourage you to tell me about what brings you to counselling.
What happens after that?
In our first session we then confirm that you are able to come for counselling at the same time every week for a 50 minute session and will see each other thereafter for as many sessions as you feel you need. I am happy to work in the long or short-term, depending on your needs. This is a collaborative process and we will work together to find the best way forward for you.
